Meet Our Pastor

Rev. Cheryl Powers, is blessed with a wonderful son and his three beautiful children, seven super step-children, 25 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren in addition to the rainbow of special people who have adopted her as mom, grandma, auntie and mentor from many countries and nationalities.

She was called by God in 1962 at the age of 7 years old at the Church of Jesus in Springfield, OH., rededicated her life to Christ in 1979, licensed to preach in 1989 and ordained in 1992 at the Living Word Church and World Outreach Ministries, St. Paul, MN. by Elder Lesley Ford. In 2014, she was ordained Baptist at the Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Minneapolis, MN. by Rev. Dr. Billy G. Russell.

Rev. Cheryl completed Biblical and Theological Studies at Liberty University, Lynchburg, Virginia in 2016 and a current student at United Theological Seminary, St. Paul, MN pursuing a Master of Divinity in Church Leadership.

Rev. Powers has served for over 30 years prison ministry in various capacities: volunteer, correctional officer, chaplain and instructor at the Bible school in Lebanon, OH. She has servedas an Associate Minister for 35 years in Minnesota and Ohio, including Restored Life Ministries under the pastorate of Rev. Larry D. Coleman.

Upon relocating to Ohio in 2015, Rev. Powers united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Springfield, OH and in January 2016. In January 2022, she was appointed Assistant Pastor by Bishop Olie Burton, Sr. Pastor.

She continues ministering to a family in Cozumel, Mexico that began in 2002. In 2022, Pastor Powers began serving with Bryan Bassett Ministries on mission trips to Freeport, Bahamas; Benguet, Philippines and Cameroon, Africa.

Rev. Powers serves the Lord with a heart of compassion and enthusiasm through preaching, teaching and trusting that lives will be transformed through the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Salvation Scripture: Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, y prayer and petition, with thanksgiving present your requests to God and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
